THE COMPARISON..

Well as of my opinion both of the earthquake were well, devastating.. As of Japan, it is a much developed country than Chile. So, chile must have gone through much more pain and trauma but the people in Japan also must have suffered alot.Well, Chile's earthquake was much more disasterous in my opinion. 9.5 on the rhicter scale... Its not that ,that Japan's earthquake was any better than of this. However, Japan is a much economically developed country than Chile so , it wasn't prepared for uch a disaster and so it completely distroyed the country. And Japan had money, infrastructure and the brains to recover .

AND NOW WE ARE HERE.! THE END..!! I HOPE YOU LIKED  LOVED IT!! :P

The government of Japan made every effort to restore Japan. When the actual earthquake struck, the government had warning sirens to alert the citizens. Since some sort of quake hits Japan every year, the government was prepared for a disaster like that on a smaller scale, and Japan has things like earthquake proof shelters set up around the country, and many of the buildings are also built to defend against earthquakes. The only foreign aid Japan needed was right after the earthquake , where people were called in to help the Japanese people with fresh supplies, such as food, water, clothes, medication and shelter. When this happened , the aid said , that even though the supplies were scarce , the Japanese were very polite and shared even one piece of food with each other . The government says , that recovery of the country would cost around 16-25 trillion yen. This cost includes fixing roads , buildings , homes and factories . Japan is a very united nation , and the path to recovery , isalready being trodden on.

THE DESTRUCTION

The earthquake was quite large.!! The earthquake measured 9.0 on the Richter Scale that struck off Japan's north-east coast, about 250 miles (400km) from Tokyo at a depth of 20 miles. This wasn't the only thing that happened that afternoon. There was even worse to get. There was a Nuclear Power Plant near the shore , and when the huge wave spilled , the power plant went into meltdown. The molten nuclear fuel leaked through the safety barriers , and went into the sea . A total of 12,431 people died . Over 163,000 were put in evacuation shelters around the country.Fixing everything without foreign help would cost 16-25 trillion yen , which covers repairing damage to roads , homes , factories and other infrastructure.

THIS WAS SERIOUSLY A DISASTER..!!

THE BIG DIFFERENCE..!!

THE EARTHQUAKE..!! THE DISASTER.!

After watching these videos there are only three words that com in my mind "OH MY GOD.! "

MY MEDC COUNTRY.. : JAPAN..!!

MY MEDC COUNTRY

okay so my medc country is JAPAN.. so let me tell you more about it. lets go ...!!!!

Japan is an Island located in East Asia , its capital is Tokyo , and its Emperor is Akihito. Japan's Economy is the third largest national economy of the world . Japan is an MEDC ( as I  told you  ) and its economy , its government , its sanitation and health care are very good . Since its in such a location that it gets a lot of quakes and tsunamis , it has mostly earthquake proof buildings and quake and tsunami radars set around the place , so when a disaster occurs , its set to handle it well.

THERE IS A LOT MORE TO COME GUYS.!! STAY TUNED..!!

THE END...!! (BUT THERE IS MORE TO COME)

So, here it is . The end of my LEDC case study. But this is not the end of my blog..!! Need to find out more about Chile? Here it is the bibliography...!!

RESTORING CHILE :D

Chile seemed to be fated, but then, help came along, the church's welfare department helped in restoring Chile.
The Church’s Welfare Department shipped relief goods – food, blankets, clothing, medicines – into Chile as long as it was needed for emergency work. Commercial airlines flew tons of material at no charge to the Church. When relief supplies began to back up at the Panama transfer point because Chilean airports couldn't handle the loads, steamer lines volunteered to carry the goods down by ship. The first shipments went to local members in the earthquake zone, but when their immediate needs were taken care of, tons of goods were turned over to the Chilean Red Cross.

Over the following months, the Church shipped in or purchased locally the necessary building materials to help Chilean members reconstruct their homes. Branch members worked cooperatively, supplying the manual labor each family needed, allowing them to save resources to hire skilled workmen for specialized services. Within a year, all members were again housed adequately.

THE DESTRUCTION...

The series of earthquakes that followed ravaged southern Chile and ruptured over a period of days a 1,000 km section of the fault, one of the longest ruptures ever reported. The number of fatalities associated with both the earthquake and tsunami has been estimated to be between 490 and 5,700. Reportedly there were 3,000 injured, and initially there were 717 missing in Chile. The Chilean government estimated 2,000,000 people were left homeless and 58,622 houses were completely destroyed. Damage (including tsunami damage) was more than $500 million U.S. dollars.
Well this so much for an LEDC country. It would truly would have been a nightmare. $500 million dollars is so musch for an LEDC country. It would have been so much different if an MEDC country would have gone through all this as they have resources...

BEFORE AND AFTER

THE DIFFERENCE..

THE DISASTER THAT SHOOK THE WHOLE COUNTRY....

The 1960 Valdivia earthquake or Great Chilean Earthquake of Sunday, 22 May 1960 is to date the most powerful earthquake ever recorded, rating 9.5 on the moment magnitude scale. It occurred in the afternoon and its resulting tsunami affected southern Chile, Hawaii, Japan, the Philippines, eastern New Zealand, southeast Australia, and the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.Approximately 1,655 killed, 3,000 injured, 2,000,000 homeless, and $550 million damage in this earthquake....

It was truly very disasterous... Cant even imagine how much the people would have gone through.

What is an LEDC?
Ledc stands for less economically developed country. These countries lack in certain things like clean water , sanitation and health care etc.

What is an MEDC?
Medc stands for more economically developed country. They are more developed, they have better water supply , better education and so on.
